YMMV / Silk (Marvel Comics)

Go To

  • My Real Daddy: The Spider-Man character Silk was created by Dan Slott and was very much hated by fans for numerous reasons: from the Unfortunate Implications that arise from her pheromone situation with Peter, to her effectively being the cause of several deaths in Spider-Verse, to her existence being a retcon of Peter's origin story. It was Robbie Thompson's solo run of the character that rescued her from the scrappy heap by reinventing her as being a bit of a Womanchild who works as The Mole for S.H.I.E.L.D.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Dan Slott created Silk during his Spider-Man run, but it would be hard to find a fan of the character that prefers his take on the character. Under Slott, Silk got a lot of flak for basically having all of Spidey's powers but better, and instantly becoming Spidey's new love interest thanks to said powers causing Fantastic Arousal. But as soon as she got her own solo series under writer Robbie Thompson and artist Stacey Lee, she became far more liked; they toned down her "superiority" to Peter (tweaking her power set to make her the Fragile Speedster of the Spiders), her Fantastic Arousal powers were retconned out (changing her dynamic with Peter from love interest to Like Brother and Sister), and her personality was completely overhauled from a smug and cocky woman with a serious case of Never My Fault, to an adorkable Womanchild rookie with anxiety issues (making her something of Marvel's counterpart to DC's Jessica Cruz).
