YMMV / Silencer

Go To

  • Awesome Music: Despite the heavily controversial nature of the band's vocals, the instrumental work on Death - Pierce Me is generally considered to be excellent. Even people who hate the vocals tend to praise the instrumentation.
  • Dancing Bear: The band wouldn't be half as famous as they are without Nattramn's outlandish vocals.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Many metalheads have listened to Death - Pierce Me just to hear Nattramn's vocals.
  • Memetic Mutation: This picture of Nattramn with his hands and face bloodied and bandaged with pig feet protruding from the bandages on his hands, which is likely the source of the "Nattramn cut his hands off and replaced them with pig's feet" rumor.
    • Once again, the vocals. Seriously, look at how many times they are mentioned on this page alone.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The utterly unhinged vocals coupled with the very flattering instrumentation and the morbid lyrics makes this a common reaction to Death - Pierce Me.
    • Narm/So Bad, It's Good: The other common reaction to the vocals, with the "gibbering" and "sobbing" portions receiving this the most.
    • Tear Jerker: This is a third possible reaction to the band. Particularly for those who have suffered clinical depression or other mental illnesses, the vocals can actually be quite emotionally affecting, and the instrumentation is certainly bleak enough to induce such a reaction as well.
  • Older Than They Think: While Silencer has what is probably the most (in)famous case of "utterly unhinged Metal Screams" in metal, the band is not the first to use them, with the German band Bethlehem employing them on their 1996 album Dictius te Necare.
  • Signature Song: "Death - Pierce Me" or "Sterile Nails and Thunderbowels."
