- Complete Monster: Grimes is a sadistic great white shark who wants to maintain shark supremacy over all other species. Introduced killing and eating Quinn's best friend Benji, Grimes keeps Benji's dog tags in his teeth as a sick trophy. When he learns that Quinn is leading a "seal team" of trained seals to fight off shark attacks, Grimes plans to Make an Example of Them to ensure that no prey ever tries to stand up to him again. Grimes orchestrates an attack on a group of seals—including a child—to test Quinn's team, and later reveals his master plan to slaughter all of seal island in a feeding frenzy to serve as a warning to the rest of the ocean that Grimes is "top of the food chain". Grimes' cruelty is so profound that he repeatedly taunts Quinn over Benji's death, and spitefully promises to kill every seal Quinn has ever met just to twist the knife further.
