  • Crosses the Line Twice: Sam (a white guy) saying the N-word? Not funny. Sam voicing Sigmund Freud expressing his frustration at being unable to locate eel testicles by screaming "WHAT'S A NIGGA GOTTA DO TO GET SOME EEL DICK!?!?"? Hysterical.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: In his video on Phineas Gage, a man whose skull got Impaled with Extreme Prejudice, he makes a joke about Gage being saved by the intervention of Top God "Shiva Gautama Christ-Chan." A couple years later, the creator Sam was referencing was arrested for Parental Incest and wrote a letter from jail with A God Am I as a recurring theme.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: In the video about the origin of religious symbols (published on the 23rd of June, 2016), one of Sam's characters defends his use of the Chicago Cubs' logo for his own baseball team by saying "Oh please, they're hardly even a team. When's the last time they've done anything?" Later that same year, the Cubs went on to beat the Cleveland Indians in that year's World Series, the first time they've done so since 1908.
  • Memetic Mutation: Quite a few.
    • "Hey kids!"
    • "Swiss Miss Instant Piss", Sam's derogatory nickname for Swiss Miss in his video on the subject.
    • "Tarrare. Look at me. Did you eat a fucking baby?"
    • "WHAT'S A NIGGA GOTTA DO TO GET SOME EEL DICK?!"
    • Out of Context Sam O' Nella, a recurring trend on the fan-based subreddit for Sam, which became so prolific and went on so long it took moderator intervention to stop it from effectively blacking out the entire subreddit.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Certain topics chosen for videos can get very disturbing, just by their nature. Want to hear about a man who was freakishly hungry? Sam has you covered.
    • Sam's closeup in his video on plant diseases can probably cause quite a few Jump Scares.
  • Nightmare Retardant: On the other hand, however, Sam's typical form of comedy can make otherwise nightmarish topics be a lot easier to handle, with his sense of humor, less-than-quality caricatures, and his portrayal of the events in the skits.
  • Squick: Given the nature of history, it's unsurprising that the subjects he picks can get disgusting. The two videos about dead bodies are excellent examples, as is the video on pre-industrial surgery, and the casu marzu (live maggot-filled cheese that might infest your intestines if eaten) section on banned foods.
