- Epileptic Trees: An interpretation of the romhack that was praised by the author is that the game represents suicidal ideation — Mario is portrayed as performing the same task over and over with an increasingly bleak environment around him until he's killed by a dark version of himself. We are then told that without him, the world is a better place.
- Narm:
- The title screen is supposed to look uncanny, but each word in "Super Mario 64" is spaced too close together and the U on "Super" blends into the background. This makes it impossible to not read it as "Spermario64"
- M is a pretty scary Glitch Entity, but his deformed nose makes him look oddly goofy when one views him from the side.
- Nightmare Fuel: The hack has quite good atmosphere and it can be genuinely unsettling to take a tour of its dead-empty levels for the first time, hurry up to the mountaintop during the timed sequence only to find no exit and witness the arrival of M.
