• Heartwarming Moments: Hector and Maribel's relationship
• Jerkass Woobie: Rubi herself in the 2010 remake. Sure, what she did was wrong, but one cannot help but pity her given the 2010 version's added tragic past and the fact that she doesn't truly change until she lost everything.
• The Woobie: Maribel and Alejandro. Hector also applies given his untimely death.
• Insanity Defense: Hector, as it's revealed he literally inherited insanity from his father, and that his father killed his mother out of jealousy. therefore, his violent and jealous behavior towards Rubi could be seen as a result of this predisposed illness. Though Rubi certainly did more to provoke him, it doubles as a Fridge Horror moment when you sit down and think about what could've happened if Hector had married Maribel like he originally intended, especially with the fact that Maribel is already disabled.
