YMMV / Revolver (2005)

  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The surreal animated scenes when Jake, Zach and Avi make the heist, Lord John berating his men after they've been robbed (together with the money) by the formers and Macha ranting against his henchman Paul. These scenes appear to nowhere only at that point and subsequently dropped in the rest of the movie.
  • Older Than They Think: Sorter's character is strongly similar to Sasaki from Kouhei Kadono's light novel Boogiepop at Dawn: both are professional hitmen for evil organizations, wear glasses and yellow coats, look like bored accountants, and eventually fight other members of their circles to protect the daughter of one of their targets, which ultimately ends in their deaths. The novel was published in 1999, though released in English three years after this film, so it's likely just a quite remarkable coincidence.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The scene from the Backstory where Jake was in prison and trading messages with the men in the neighboring cells, The Chessmaster and a Con Man, without ever meeting them as they plotted to escape could have made for a great movie by itself, and feels especially wasted given the question about whether or not it was real from the Gainax Ending.
