YMMV / Reversal of Fortune

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Claus von Bülow. Is he really a callous murderer who is now using the system and his wealth to get away with it as many believe, even Alan? An innocent man being railroaded by a shoddy prosecution more interested in a good headline story than the truth as he claims? A little of both or something else entirely?
  • Award Snub: Glenn Close for her portrayal of Sunny.
  • Fridge Brilliance: After von Bülow meets Dershowitz's team for the first time, they all go to a Chinese restaurant. von Bülow is looking for the plate of prawns, which he's fond of, but as the students pepper von Bülow with questions, they take the prawns one by one until the plate is empty. This is a small detail, but along with all the questions, this is the students' way of showing von Bülow they're not intimidated by him (which is why von Bülow moans at one point, "Alan, do they all want to be prosecutors?").note
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Julie Hagerty has a small uncredited role as one of von Bülow's lovers testifying at his trial. Just try and not imagine her testimony continuing into "... and I used to sit on his face and wiggle... "
  • Memetic Mutation: "You're a very strange man." "You have no idea."
  • Retroactive Recognition:
    • Felicity Huffman, in only her second film role, plays one of Dershowitz's students.
    • Annabella Sciorra, in one of her earliest film roles, plays Sarah, Dershowitz's ex-girlfriend.
