YMMV / RWBY Abridged

• Crosses the Line Twice: Multiple teenagers dying or being severely burned in a fire accident as a result of long hair is normally a horrifying premise. But having Pyrrha calmly recollect how none of them were fast enough to outrun the flames on their hair with a straight face adds a certain level of Black Comedy to the incident.
  Pyrrha: No matter how fast they ran, the fire was faster.
  • Nora tearing the skin off another students arm so she can make breakfast for her and Ren? Horrifying. Ren reacting with barely restrained rage to said incident by cutting his pancakes so fast that they catch on fire? Comedy Gold.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Chibi Ruby. The creator even opined that he loved using Chibi Ruby in episodes.
• Fridge Horror: This maybe stretching things a bit far, but out of all the times Ruby and Yang have mentioned their family, neither one has even so much as acknowledged their father Taiyang's existence. And this version of RWBY is quite a bit darker than the original or even the other abridged series. it doesn't take a genius to draw the conclusion Taiyang may not have survived Summer's passing...
• Funny Moments:
  • Ruby's complete rant on how utterly incompetent the law enforcement of Vale are.
  • Chibi Ruby's reaction to Yang saying that she actually can't understand her since she doesn't speak Japanese.
• Harsher in Hindsight: An end credits gag has ZehOverseer declare that, "I will NEVER DIE!....maybe." In February, somebody hacked his computer, forcing him to take all of his accounts offline, apparently abruptly ending the series. Fortunately, he's back now.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Abridged!Yang has an Imaginary Friend in the form of Super-Deformed version of Ruby she affectionately calls "Chibi Ruby". Guess what Rooster Teeth recently announced.
• Moe: Chibi Ruby.
