YMMV / Puyo Puyo Fever 2

Go To

  • Even Better Sequel: Compared to its direct predecessor, Fever 2 is far more well regarded, having a much more expansive story that proved Sonic Team can be just as serious with the lore as Compile before them, introducing the beloved Lemres and especially Sig, and has a fun RPG-like set-up with the item system. Too bad it wasn't enough to salvage the game's sales according to Sega.
  • Porting Disaster: Of the three versions, the PlayStation Portable is easily considered to be an absolute nightmare to work with, not only having lower quality graphics, but hosting weird bugs such as Garbage Puyo prematurely firing from incomplete chains. All of this can be easily trailed to the fact that through datamining, Sonic Team opted to code Fever 2 in ADOBE FLASH.
  • Scrappy Mechanic: The item system is a fun mechanic that can make certain battles easier or harder depending on how tough you feel, bringing some form of replay value to the game. The strict 24-item limit, on the other hand, is not. Any repeat items you get don't stack, you can't deny item gifts from interactions, and there are five unlimited use items that will take up inventory space no matter what, meaning you only really have 19 item slots by endgame.
