YMMV / Psycho BFF

• Diagnosed by the Audience: Olivia obviously has serious mental health problems. Her impulsiveness, possessiveness, mood swings and extreme risktaking plus her suicidal thoughts are all classic borderline personality disorder traits.
• Ham and Cheese: Paige McGarvin plays Adele as the ultimate Alpha Bitch, hamming it up right and left, complete with a sashaying walk. It clashes with most of the rest of the movie, but it's still hugely entertaining to watch.
• Jerkass Woobie: Messed up though she is, Olivia, with her Tragic Backstory and parental neglect, has clearly suffered a lifetime's worth of trauma as a teen and, mayhem aside, is still sympathetic by the end of the movie.
• One-Scene Wonder: Liberty (played by Tiana Tuttle) only appears in the opening scene and a later fantasy moment.
• Special Effects Failure:
  • Some establishing exterior stock footage of a German school (Goethe-Gymnasium in Stuttgart) is shown for the gym scenes.
  • The score is mixed so loud it drowns out some important bits of dialogue, especially in the motel bathroom scene at the climax, when you might need to turn on captions to catch the very important things Olivia and Deandra are saying to each other.
• Spiritual Successor: Lifetime's Malicious Motives from 2021 is a similar tale of toxic teen friendship co-starring Juliana Destefano, only there she's the villain (albeit Driven to Villainy by extraordinary circumstances).
