* ArcFatigue: Some storylines seem to have lasted for ''years''.
* AwesomeArt: Hal Foster is always held up as one of the handful of very best artists to have ever drawn a newspaper comic strip. His only real competition would probably be [[ComicStrip/FlashGordon Alex Raymond]] or [[ComicStrip/LittleNemo Winsor McKay.]] The artists since Foster's retirement have been excellent, as well.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff:
** The strip is ''extremely'' popular in Germany, under the name ''Prinz Eisenherz'' ("Prince Ironheart").
** Also, the theme song for the AnimatedAdaptation apparently became a hit for Italian pop singer Cristina D'Avena.
* LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt: In the early 2000's, a storyline had Camelot ''actually fall.'' The [[StatusQuoIsGod status quo]] was eventually restored, but it took a while, and the intervening lengthy storyline with all the main cast either in exile or in hiding, working behind the scenes, was legitimately shocking.
* NightmareFuel: The death of Val's squire Edwin. He is stripped, crucified and tortured to death. Even though we only see his arms tied to the cross, it's one of the grisliest deaths in the series and Edwin's similarity to Val's younger, more reckless self makes it all the more disturbing to him and the reader. Val is left so shaken that he even (briefly) throws away the singing sword after avenging Edwin's death!
