YMMV / Power Blade

Go To

  • Cult Classic: It has a share of fans, due to the solid and familiar gameplay, great soundtrack, and good controls.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Despite coming out five years earlier, the Sector 2 Boss(Which appears in the sequel as a reoccurring Miniboss) looks almost exactly like a robotic Charizard.
  • Sequel Difficulty Drop: Due to the removal of Fake Difficulty from Power Blazer and increases in weapon power and movement speed, Power Blade can be blazed through without much challenge.
  • Surprisingly Improved Sequel: Power Blazer, the original Japanese release, is generally considered a mediocre Mega Man (Classic) clone with slippery controls and poorly balanced difficulty. On the other hand, the localized Western version, Power Blade, gave the hero more powerful jumps and weapons, while also making the levels less linear by adding branching paths and a hidden informant to rescue per level. This resulted in a vastly improved game which rids of much of the Fake Difficulty of the original.
