YMMV / Pokemon S 24 E 1 To Train Or Not To Train

• Alternate Character Interpretation: Despite being stuck in a hole, Ash and Pikachu only intervene until after Chloe defeats Pelipper — due to the Prize Master machine conveniently deciding to malfunction when she has to fight — instead of coming into save the day. Was the delay due to Ash taking time to climb out of the hole, or was it intentional so that Chloe could get some confidence in battling all by herself?
• Ass Pull: The Rocket Prize Master conveniently decides to not work when Chloe has to fight them solo (as Ash and Pikachu are in a pit and Goh has no other Pokemon outside Sobble and Cinderace who are currently captured) and the only Pokemon that Jessie and James have at their disposal is Pelipper — who is Water/Flying type and thus has a quadruple weakness to Electric-type moves. And Chloe, who has only had two fights prior to this episode, coincidentally has Yamper to fight. The fact that the Prize Master shows no signs of breaking down before and even after this episode is quite baffling.
