- Older Than They Think: Borrowed a lot of his mannerisms from old time radio sportscaster and newsreel narrator Bill Stern

Harvey's signature reading of page numbers was based on Stern calling out reel numbers in newsreels. - Replacement Scrappy: Gil Gross and Doug Limerick (both of whom had previously filled in for him on occasion) tried to carry on with Paul Harvey-esque formats after his death. Their replacements lasted three weeks before ABC replaced them with Mike Huckabee's Huckabee Report.
