• Values Dissonance: A few of the gags based on the fact that one of the dolls is black (including references to voodoo and The Black and White Minstrel Show) probably wouldn't fly today.
• What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: This episode was broadcast before the 9pm watershed despite the obviously adult content. As a result, the show was accused of overstepping the mark, with parents complaining to The BBC about how they were supposed to explain to their children what the dolls were used for. As it happens, the sexual content was actually toned down — the dolls that were used in the show had been purchased from a sex shop in Soho by the show's props buyer but had to be altered somewhat as they were too anatomically explicit to be used in their original form.
  • We also get this in-universe as Denzil and Del both initially assume that the dolls are children's toys. It's only when Rodney reads the paperwork that the Trotters realises that they are in fact inflatable sex dolls.
