Jupiter even says that even after Sun's isolated himself and stopped talking to everyone else, he'll still talk to Mercury. On the other hand, Mercury calls him 'sir' rather than using his name like everyone else does, implying that the power differential affects their relationship to a significant degree and making it equally possible that Mercury just likes having the ear of power (rather than having any affection for Sun himself) or prefers to at least try to keep a professional distance between the two of them.
