• Harsher in Hindsight: Deadshot's interactions with the rest of the characters make the reveal that Sonya Blade, far from being the tough but fair leader of the Special Forces and loving mother of Cassie Cage (and with some remaining Belligerent Sexual Tension with her ex-husband Johnny), is in fact an evil accomplice of the Black Dragon, and in a secret relationship with Kano, who up until now had been portrayed as her inveterate enemy. Come Mortal Kombat 11, and Sonya's still as heroic and opposed to Kano as ever - but the same cannot be said for another Kombatant's mother: Queen Sindel, Kitana's mother, formerly The High Queen of Edenia who killed herself to defend Earthrealm from Shao Kahn after he killed her husband Jerrod, now retconned into being a murderous, power-hungry tyrant who killed Jerrod herself and lied to Edenia about it because she sought to maintain her power as Shao Kahn's wife. Unbelievably jarring.
