• Anticlimax Boss: The series' battles in general don't last very long, with most of them being Curb-Stomp Battles operating on borderline Calvinball rules. The Arc Villain fights aren't much different, both being finished in a chapter or two.
  • Moriking vs. Oga ends with Moriking using the ultimate technique of the Forest King School, the Forest Bomb (a Spirit Bomb with the word "forest" written on it, made from the energy of people who love insects). This allows Moriking to finish Oga in a single attack, as well as convinces the stag beetle to join Moriking's side.
  • Moriking vs. Hercules is even quicker (most likely owing to the series being Cut Short), where the audience cheering for Moriking allows him to summon the strength to simply overpower his opponent.
• Arc Fatigue: The first 19 chapters can be a drag for those who don't find the gags funny, and/or are waiting to see the insect fights. In-between each new candidate introduction are 3-4 chapters of what can at times feel like filler, a few of which are spent with one-off characters who never appear again. What made this especially frustrating at the time was how the series occasionally dropped hints of things to come (like foreshadowing the Legion in Ko's debut chapter), only to wait weeks before following up on them.
