• Harsher in Hindsight: The episode's ending depicts Monk as being humorously paranoid for refusing to share an elevator with a woman who's coughing. With the number of infectious and potentially lethal respiratory diseases that have been widespread in the years since — including SARS in 2003, swine flu in 2009, and especially COVID-19 in 2020 — Monk's behavior suddenly seems a whole lot more reasonable.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Stottlemeyer, when taking Monk off the case, calls him a leper. Monk would later take a case involving one.
