- Broken Base: The reaction to the episode was pretty neatly divided between the pro-Love Square fans and the Love Square's critics: the former love the Call-Back to the umbrella scene from the origins episode and enjoy the implications that this means their ship will hook up, while the latter — especially after Marinette and Adrien's respective break-ups with Luka and Kagami — bemoan that, once again, the show is focusing on the pairing at the expense of anything else.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
- Some viewers would have actually liked to see an episode about Marinette trying to cheer up Kagami over her breakup with Adrien (even if it involved Hilarity Ensues or her being Innocently Insensitive) and bonding with her as a result, rather than yet another episode focusing on Marinette's obsessive crush on Adrien and their eternal Will They or Won't They? Ship Tease at the expense of everything else.
- When Kagami reveals Adrien broke her heart, it would have been a great opportunity for Marinette to learn the full details of their breakup and eventually realize Adrien isn't perfect, grapple with her feelings, and come away realizing she still loves him even if he isn't flawless, rather than her brushing Kagami off and remaining a selectively oblivious, hero-worshiping Insecure Love Interest because Status Quo Is God.
