YMMV / Miraculous Ladybug S02E09 "Glaciator"

• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Both Cat Noir and André the ice cream man manage to fall into this.
  • For the former, while his planned surprise romantic date for Ladybug is sweet and his disappointment understandable, both she and Plagg warn him beforehand she might not attend since she has other plans with friends, and he chooses to get his hopes up anyway. While he acknowledges this to Marinette, by the time the Glaciator shows up he acts like she stood him up. Rather than point out she never promised to attend, or explain that she didn't realize his offer/flirting was serious, Ladybug apologizes, and at the end of the episode Cat Noir decides to keep pursuing her even after she tells him she's in love with someone else.
  • For the latter, we're meant to feel sorry for him because Marinette rejected his ice cream and doubted its magic, but given that he was essentially forcing it upon her without asking if she even wanted it, Marinette had every right to reject it, and even though she said it due to her upset state, she had the right to her opinion of the "magic" ice cream being "just ice cream."
