- Continuity Lockout: Neither version really gives an explanation as to who the Rangers are or who Rita Repulsa is. The SNES version is extremely crude about this. All you get is a giant image of Rita overlooking the city while the Rangers watch in horror. That's it. No text, no summary, nothing. Rita herself doesn't appear at all after this.
- It's Short, So It Sucks!: The SNES version was already extremely short for a Beat 'em Up, but the Game Boy version is even shorter, with two fewer stages and smaller platforming areas.
- So Okay, It's Average: The main consensus of both games. It's an extremely simple Beat 'em Up with little variety in enemies or moves.
