I just had a moment of fridge brilliance and wanted to mention the theory, as part of YMMV, as there isn't a Fridge page on the game.

Added DiffLines:

* FridgeBrilliance: ''"What do you get when you cross a Nazi, and a cockroach? You get..."'' The Nazi Storm Elites, armored GasMaskMooks, who can take dozens of bullets and only flinch. What do people remember about cockroaches other than their appearance? The fact that cockroaches are hard to squish and thus very hard to kill. The game is spelling out which enemy type will make it's big entrance right from the start of the level!

* ThatOneLevel: "Operation: Varsity" is seen by many as the hardest mission in the game, no thanks to the huge number of [[ColdSniper Waffen Senior Troopers and Fallscirmjager Snipers]] scattered around the outdoor areas of the map. These snipers can deplete the player's health bars in 4 hits, capable of killing the player mere seconds after landing. The worst and longest part of the level, however, is the railyard where the parked enemy tanks are located, which is consequently also where the majority of the enemy snipers on that level are, in addition this is where the STG44 has completely replaced the MP40 so even regular mooks are more of a problem.

* DemonicSpiders: The Panzergrenadiers and Panzergrenadiers, Nazi Storm Elites.Elites, and both sniper variants of the Waffen-SS and Fallschirmjager.

Added DiffLines:

** The last two, the Waffen Senior Trooper and Fallschirmjager Sniper, will, like the Panzergrenadiers, focus fire on the player when presented a chance. Unlike most enemy-wielded weapons, their [[SniperRifle scoped Gewehr 43s]] can instantly deplete a single health bar in one hit, meaning that getting hit four times by them, especially on higher difficulties, is a death sentence. Normally, these enemies are rare and hard to come by, but in ''Varsity'', the second-to-last level, dozens of them are defending the relatively open spaces of the Essen Industrial Area, where they can kill players in seconds.

* DisappointingLastLevel: From a historical perspective, the final level is a departure from the historical accuracy the series was known fo - while most people will accept that an Airborne assault on a Flaktürm (which never happened in real life) is [[RuleOfCool pretty awesome]], filling it with ''Videogame/{{Wolfenstein}}''-esque [[DemonicSpiders Storm Elites]] and more drab concrete and less SceneryPorn than earlier levels was a step too far.

** The latter, however, are infamous for how just overpowered they are. In the first place, they are ''absurdly'' tough - if you think round or two to the head should kill them, you're wrong. They just lumber onwards like the Franchise/{{Terminator}}. Even grenades need two solid hits to kill them. In the second place, they carry MG42 heavy machine guns which are usually found (both in-game and in real life) in static positions, making them essentially walking turrets with overwhelming firepower; and lastly, they aren't any less deadly in close quarters combat, and they can bludgeon you if you try and get up close.

* DemonicSpiders: The Panzergrenadiers and Storm Elites are known for this reputation. The former ones are infamous by their inherent overkill tendences, as they wield bazookas as if they were sniper rifles and are obsessively fixated on the player, which means he gets invariably hunted down with highly destructive shells as soon as one of the troops appears around. The latter, however, are infamous for how just overpowered they are. In the first place, they are ''absurdly'' tough, to the point a player who doesn't know their weak spots might spent all of his ammunition on them and they would just lumber through the fire like Franchise/{{Terminator}}; in the second place, they carry heavy machineguns which are usually reserved in-game to static positions, making them esentially walking turrets with a overwhelming firepower; and in last place, they aren't any less deadly in close quarters combat, and they will bludgeon their opponent dead with their weapons if he tries luck at short range.
* DisappointingLastLevel: Some players were disappointed, from a historical perspective, in the final level being a departure from the rest of the game's, and to an extent the series as a whole's, from the historical accuracy it's known for.

* ItsShortSoItSucks: One common complaint is the number of missions and the overall length of the game. Though considering that there were only a handful of times Airborne forces were parachuted in in Europe during World War II, this is sort-of justified.
