• Fridge Brilliance: The fact that the regional police service that covers Bath in the show is the fictional "West of England Police" rather than the Real Life Avon & Somerset Police becomes this in "We Need To Talk About Doreen", in which the murder takes place in the Box Tunnel, which is actually in Wiltshire (albeit a part of Wiltshire that's just ten miles from Bath). Had the writers gone with real British police forces, they could not have set the Mystery of the Week there as it would fall under the jurisdiction of the Wiltshire Constabulary (with the British Transport Police probably getting involved as well given that it's a working railway line). Bath-based detectives would not have got a look-in.
• Narrowed It Down To The Guy I Recognise: Played with. Each episode has at least one Special Guest playing a suspect; sometimes that character turns out to be the murderer, sometimes not.
