** Whenever Luigi gets startled by a ghost, he pauses for a second, which prevents the player from moving until he regains his composure. This gets very annoying ''very'' quickly, especially in the hallway areas, since it takes that much longer to reach your destination due to all of the ceiling and bowling ghosts that appear to harass you. It gets even worse in Area 4 when you have to deal with Boos with 200-300 HP that constantly dart between rooms, and the hallway ghosts ''still'' show up to scare Luigi in the middle of all of it.

Fortunately however, most of the hallway ghosts can be prevented from appearing by aiming the flashlight at the ceiling while you walk.

* AngstWhatAngst: In [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Um8Cs84Fig one of his few spoken lines in this game]], Mario doesn't sound all that horrified at the possibility of [[AndIMustScream being trapped in a painting for the rest of his life.]] He just sounds annoyed that it's taking so long for Luigi to rescue him.

There IS a way to figure out where they area, it just requires reading a book in another room to learn about it

** Henry and Orville, who can only be vacuumed after winning their game of hide and seek...that and their vehicles can be pretty annoying to avoid and take out in equal measure.

** The twins, Henry and Orville, aren't difficult bosses, but actually trying to suck them up is annoyingly tedious since you gotta play a game of hide-and-seek with them. The problem is that their hiding spots are ''completely'' random with no indication as to where they are, and picking the wrong hiding spot (which you're likely to be doing a lot) requires starting the game over again.

* OlderThanTheyThink: Many might think that ''Luigi's Mansion'' is where Luigi was first characterized as shy and fearful, when in reality he was already showing sides of this in the ''WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfSuperMarioBros3'' cartoon series.

** Fans were disappointed that in the 3DS remake, Bowser still had the same roars from his UsefulNotes/Nintendo64 appearances rather than actually being updated to reflect his more recent appearances.

* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: This UsefulNotes/NintendoGameCube launch title has a sort of "in-between generations" feeling. Luigi has a gadget called "Game Boy Horror", a take off on the UsefulNotes/GameBoyColor, which felt instantly dated as the Color's successor the UsefulNotes/GameBoyAdvance released a few months before the game did. According to the developers, they would have used the Advance, but its design was not finalized in time. Future games in the series would also feature gadgets based on Nintendo hardware, but would be more deliberately retro, with ''VideoGame/LuigisMansionDarkMoon'' (released in 2014 on the UsefulNotes/Nintendo3DS) using an original model Nintendo DS (discontinued 8 years prior in 2006), and ''VideoGame/LuigisMansion3'' using a UsefulNotes/VirtualBoy.

* CommonKnowledge: Despite what many believe, there’s no evidence that the Safari Room had a boss ghost that was cut from the game. The idea is based on a quote from ''Nintendo Power'' about encountering a hunter ghost who would want to add Luigi to his collection, but by all accounts, this was just meant to be flavor text.

Seinfeld Is Unfunny is now a disambiguation page.

* SeinfeldIsUnfunny: Graphic-wise; this game started the franchise's current art direction, but compared to subsequent games, especially after ''VideoGame/MarioParty4'' finished establishing the art direction, it looks pretty dated, with many EarlyInstallmentCharacterDesignDifference and a residual pinch of N64 left in. That being said, some people are very fond of the unique looks of Toad and especially Luigi in this game, being interesting and expressive portrayals of their N64-era designs with higher quality graphics.
