YMMV / Louis Tomlinson

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Could "Back to You" be about the music industry, using Destructive Romance as a metaphor? About wanting a career in music despite the toxic nature of the industry? He was still under Syco at the time, which might be why he insisted it's a fictional story.
You got me cornered and my hands are tied
    • For the rock rendition of the song during the Faith in the Future tour, a third person version the lyrics "You drag me down, you fuck me up" appear on the screen in fake news articles.
  • Fan Community Nicknames: Louies, which dates back to the mid to late 1D days and carried over to his solo fandom. It is not uncommon to see fans use the term in the possessive, as in his Louies. Hispanic fans also use the term Louistas.
  • Fridge Brilliance: After seeing Louis' documentary All of Those Voices, some fans realised many of Louis' songs, such as "Lucky Again" seem to be about his career. "We were lucky once" as a band, "I could be lucky again" as a solo artist. "Holding onto Heartache" seems to be about his emotional state when One Direction ended, containing lyrics that seem to be references to 1D songs such as "Drag Me Down".
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Louis' largest and most vocal fanbase by far seems to be in Latin America. He consistently gets radio/media support there and sells out his biggest venues. Events for Louies are held in places like Argentina, and local Mexican newspapers have even reported on Louis' tumultuous relationship with Sony. He also enjoys significant support in mainland Europe, particularly in Spain, Germany, France, and Italy.
  • Growing the Beard: Walls isn't a bad album by any means, but general consensus is that Faith in the Future is where Louis really hits his stride as an artist. Louis himself has made it pretty clear that he prefers the latter, and that he had a clearer vision and easier time making it.
  • LGBT Fanbase: As a solo artist, a huge amount of his fans are queer women, to the point that it's an inside joke in the fandom. Fans often do rainbow projects during his concerts, leading Louis to have his own rainbow lighting during the "All This Time"/"She is Beauty We Are World Class" megamix on his second tour.
  • Moe: Louies tend to have a very protective attitude towards Louis, and he has often been considered cute/adorable and is known for his warm hugs.
Louis: They love asking these questions [of concern], d'ya know what I mean? I'm alright guys, d'ya know what I mean? Do I not look alright?

    Fan: Please stay hydrated tomorrow.
    Louis: Don't worry about me!
Fan: We're always worried about you.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song: Some fans think "Saturdays" is musically similar to the 1D song "Spaces", which Louis has songwriting credits on. Same goes for "Don't Let It Break Your Heart" and "Steal My Girl".
