YMMV / Little Nuns

Go To

  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Frog Nun quickly became this due to her Ugly Cute appearance and memetic love of frogs.
  • Fan Nickname:
    • Among fans on Twitter, Froggy's ostrich is nicknamed Cookie, Glasses' hedgehog is called Elvis and Spicy's cat goes by Pepper. The last of these three eventually became canon.
    • The nuns were subjected to various fan nicknames before Diva codified their official nicknames.
    • The younger generation of nuns are often collectively called "the Nunlets".
    • Since "Little Nuns" is rather generic and the story is heavily populated by a certain type of bird, fans trying to get other people into it instead call the story "Nuns with Ducks".
  • Friendly Fandoms: Shares a lot of fans with MAFIADUCK, a Darker and Edgier take on a duck-centric webcomic. Diva and Nilan_1999 even drew their series’ most popular characters (Don Duck and Frog Nun) in each other’s styles. The same can be said for Popopoka's Blind Girl webcomic, with Little Nuns appearing in its backgrounds, and Diva drawing fanart of its protagonist.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Hungry Nun's being Obsessed with Food took a much darker tone when her backstory revealed how agonizingly poor she and her mother were growing up, implying that she eats so much because it lets her escape her memories of that time.
  • Memetic Mutation: "New Diva tweet. Where's the chicken?"note
  • Sweet Dreams Fuel: A cutesy Slice of Life series about the antics of young nuns chock-full of adorably hilarious ducks and other such animals would naturally be this.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • This picture has a subtle one, tucked away in the upper right corner. Frog Nun's mom is heavily implied to have died during childbirth, and her dad can be seen with tear stains on his shirt. If that alone isn't heartbreaking enough, his body language is. It's also one of the few times we've seen the normally-composed Strict Nun outright depressed.
    • The arc from late August 2023, detailing the backstory of Hungry nun's family, starting with this image. Even if you know they will get better, it still doesn't make the obvious fatigue her mother is going through any less painful to see.
    • 7th image from Hungry Nun's arc, showing her mother breaking down crying at the feet of the Mother Superior in the right side of the corner, implying that she had to give away her daughter to the convent out of neccesity because she didn't have the resources to look after the both of them at once.
