Serial Numbers Filed Off: F.G. Goodes, the department store around which the show revolved, is stated in the foreword to the script to be a knockoff of the real-life David Jones chain, to the point where the department store scenes in the movie were filmed in the long-disused seventh floor of the Sydney CBD David Jones building, which still looked just the way it did in 1959. The scenes had to be shot in one day, as the seventh floor was about to be renovated.
