• Tear Jerker: There's an unusual amount of tear-jerker for a comedy with Louis de Funès.
  • Le Glaude with his late wife, but it's mostly Le Bombé after he is ridiculed by the townspeople and becomes suicidal.
  • Another one is when Le Glaude threatens him to blow his brains out after learning his wife has cheated on him, Le Bombé tries to deny it but finally confess. The sheer guilt, genuine remorse and willingness to let his friend kill him makes Le Glaude instantly forgive him.
  • The biggest one comes at the end when the Jerkass mayor turns theirs homes into a People Zoo where tourists are throwing peanuts and garbage at both Le Glaude and Le Bombé. While Le Glaude (surprisingly) manages to control himself, Le Bombé silently cries and when a kid is shooting a plastic arrow, you can clearly see his face completely full of tears. When the Glaude brings him back to his house, he completely breaks down...
