** LCD Soundsystem making their 2016 comeback. It was either a [[SugarWiki/AndTheFandomRejoiced "fandom rejoice"]] moment, and long overdue, or a huge point of contention and James going back on his word. James, always the self-aware type, saw this coming, and talked it out in a [[https://web.archive.org/web/20160209135726/https://lcdsoundsystem.com/main/archives/7933 blog post]] that won a few fans back.

* BrokenBase: Due to a feud with fellow dance-punkers Death From Above 1979 over their name (Murphy's record label is "DFA Records," which stands for Death From Above, the original name of DFA 1979), some people who are fans of LCD Soundsystem have become detractors of DFA 1979, and vice-versa. People who are fans of both bands, along with some who are fans of only one, find the whole thing stupid and wanted the two to [[{{Forgiveness}} get over it]].
** Murphy explained his side of the story in an interview with [[http://www.pitchfork.com/article/feature/31332/Jukebox_James_Murphy Pitchfork]]. He claims that the label knew about the band for a while and didn't care that their name was the same. However, once the band signed to Atlantic, Atlantic refused to release their album if the band's name was the same as another entity. Murphy was OK with the name change to Death from Above 1979, but the lawyers weren't. They only backed down when Murphy said he wasn't comfortable if the legal negotiations would delay the band's album.
** Even more, both bands appeared in the soundtracks of ''VideoGame/ProjectGothamRacing 3'' ("Tribulations" for LCD, "Black History Month" for DFA 1979) and ''VideoGame/SaintsRow2'' ("North American Scum" for LCD, "Sexy Results" for DFA 1979).

** "Someone Great". Especially the video. For context, the song is about the feeling of raw, undigested grief after a titular "someone great" dies - every line hits like a brick with the poignancy of mundane events that have such emotional gravitas behind them now ("The worst is all the lovely weather, surprised it's not raining"), but especially the stanza (mentioned below) where James flatly explains that the act of missing someone doesn't end until you yourself die. If you start associating this track with a lost loved one, it becomes even more visceral in how cutting it is.
-->"And it keeps coming, and it keeps coming, and it keeps coming, and it keeps coming, and it keeps coming, and it keeps coming, and it keeps coming 'til the day it stops."

* EarWorm: If you get songs stuck in your head easily, do NOT listen to LCD Soundsystem. It'd be easier to list the songs that ''don't'' loop in your head for days.
