YMMV / LA Knight

Go To

  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Was this in NXT, and became this again upon ditching the "Max Dupri" persona on the main WWE roster and becoming LA Knight again. Despite being booked as a mostly-losing midcarder, he started getting the loudest pops on the shows and a top merchandise seller. YEAH! The booking team eventually took notice of how massively over Knight is and promoted him to main event-status as of his title match against Roman Reigns.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: LA Knight's RAW is XXX promo about Bray Wyatt living on "past glory", given that Bray would die seven months later and that LA Knight would be Bray's final opponent. Now there's nothing but Bray's past glory. Another promo has him rage at how Bray rambles "but never gets to the point". With Bray's death, many planned storylines involving him will never be able to be seen to its fullest potential with the void he's left.
  • Heartwarming Moments: Knight's eulogy for Bray Wyatt. Putting aside Knight's own personal triumph in being trusted enough by WWE to handle such a monumentally important tribute, the promo itself is a masterclass in respect and reverence from the man who, in the end, would end up being Bray's final opponent, and whose unprecedentedly meteoric push was engineered in large part by Bray himself. On the night his company, his wrestling family, and his fans needed him most, LA Knight was the guy.
Knight: And one more thing. Miz...a wise man once told me, the next time you see me...run.
  • Memetic Mutation: His "Shoes of a champion" promo on NWA Powerrr, even getting referenced by Wade Barrett on commentary in the WWE.
    • It’s a common meme to cut his “YEAH” into popular songs.
  • Retroactive Recognition: His numerous appearances in commercials and bit parts on TV series (including a small role in a 2015 episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine) became this as he became more and more popular.
  • Rooting for the Empire: Started getting massive cheers after his feud with Bray Wyatt, despite him being a Heel. The cheers got more massive by WrestleMania 39, which took place in Los Angeles.
  • Tear Jerker: His promo on August 25th, 2023 of SmackDown!, since the episode takes place after Bray Wyatt's passing. One can see him ready to break down in tears, especially since LA Knight turned out to be Bray's final opponent, as he weaves the real life pains of Bray's death with his current feud with The Miz.
