  • Angst? What Angst?: Father Shirafune and Benika don't really react to the fact that Archbishop Ildebrando, the former's superior and someone the latter trusts and respects, not only is responsible for organizing an armed revolution of refugees, but personally betrayed both of them by sending a church assassin to retrieve the rosary even at the cost of Father Shirafune's life, and tricking Benika into wearing a remote-detonated bomb.
  • Jerkass Woobie: The female refugee vigilante is responsible for having children carry out brutal punishments on criminals, some of whom are rather young, without a hint of hesitation or remorse. However, she honestly believes that this is the only way to keep children, herself included, from becoming criminals, and has suffered a lot, from her parents being killed in a war to her being raped. Keep in mind that she seems to be Benika's age, if not younger.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Archbishop Ildebrando crosses it in Chapter 33 by giving Benika a cross to wear that not only has a bug implanted, but also a remotely detonated explosive, with the intent of using it to kill Rose and secure the rosary even if it kills the innocent Benika and/or his loyal subordinate Gina in the process. The worst part, which resulted in many readers considering him outright evil, is the fact that he considers Benika acceptable collateral damage just for being a lesbian. In Chapter 40, he actually attempts to detonate the explosive, which would have killed Rose, Father Shirafune, Benika, Hibai and Gina, as well as potentially others in the high-rise apartment building, if not for Rose's quick thinking and Gina's cooperation.
  • Nightmare Fuel: In the refugee camp, it's revealed that criminals, some of whom are young children, are given the same injuries their victims received. Criminals are held in overcrowded cages, and the ones who are executed are burned as fuel.
  • Paranoia Fuel: The idea of a group of assassins who masquerade as ordinary people and are able to make their killings look like accidents. Perhaps even worse? Your father's employer considers both him and you to be expendable pawns in a political power struggle.
