YMMV / Kinniku Banzuke: Kongou-Kun no Daibouken!

Go To

  • Harsher in Hindsight: The Deadly Game aspect of the challenges, particularly in the anime adaptation, became this when Unbeatable Banzuke got cancelled a year later because of two competitors suffering grave injuries.
  • Self-Imposed Challenge: Some but not all of the elemental hazard-affected challenges can be won without equipping the corresponding elemental gem.
  • That One Level:
    • The extremely hard 9 challenges gauntlet that ends the game. You can't save progress, you need to unlock the Continue function (which can be permanently missed), you need to use gems to even make some of them beatable, you have to learn a new minigame and, finally, you must play a round of Kick Target and two of Struck Out under a harsh time limit back-to-back.
    • Kane's story route that can be found early on consists of just 5 Struck Out Bingo challenges with a higher goal each time. In theory, this should greatly cut down the length of the story... but of course knocking 14, 15 and then all 16 plates off is a devilishly difficult task. This is exacerbated by having to grind for money and then hand out a bunch of elemental orbs for every attempt. The final Bingo requires 6 gems, 3 of Wind and 3 of Water, just to stretch things further.
    • The initial version of Nine Hoops is one of the easiest challenges in the game for how it allows you to line Kongou up with each row of hoops before starting the Action Commands. The same cannot be said about the variant with two pairs of hoops that move either vertically or sideways, in which getting each throw's timing correctly is very difficult.
