Some have noted that people familiar with these concepts are generally more appreciative of ''Ghost'' as a whole than the average member of the Western audience, for whom such ShownTheirWork details would fly over their heads, so this is seen as one of the contributing factors to the less-than-positive reception the season gets from the Western fanbase at large. * SeasonalRot: The most popular contender for being the weakest series in the franchise. General consensus is that the series started fairly strong, but after the conclusion of the first arc it struggled massively with direction thanks to its TroubledProduction, with an over-focus on the PowerOfFriendship as a plot device, Makoto and Kanon being relegated to TheArtifact due to their arc being already finished, the Gamma sans Alain being severely underdeveloped and uncompelling as antagonists, and the very thin main storyline leading to much of the series feeling like {{Filler}}. The very noticeable budget issues in the last third of the run didn't help either, nor the FinalBoss amounting to a GenericDoomsdayVillain with little concrete set-up. While people have come around to [[VindicatedByHistory seeing positive aspects in more recent years]], Ghost is still considered an divisive season and it's rare to find anyone who would place the season among their favourites in the Rider mythos.

** Said untrustworthy guy ''also'' has a moment: Apparently he knew the importance of a Ghost Driver, judging by him using an unfinished model to create his set of Eyecons, but didn't think to finish it. [[HoistByHisOwnPetard This proceeds to screw him over royally.]]

** After constantly being traumatized by a MentorMascot, now it's [[Creator/AoiYuuki Mad]][[Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica oka]]'s turn to be the mascot, and pumps all of [[{{Jerkass}} Kyubey's]] [[YouDidntAsk traits]] UpToEleven. To add the hilarity, [[spoiler:the TransformationTrinket for the main form this time is the protagonist's SoulJar ''and'' one of his forms is Himiko [[note]]At the endgame of Madoka, it's revealed that many famous women had been magical girls, Himiko included[[/note]]]].

* SeasonalRot: ''Ghost'' is the go-to punching bag for Kamen Rider. While it's praised for its Rider designs and overall aesthetic, everything else is heavily criticized. The main issue being the lack of development for some of the main characters as well as side characters being underutilized.

* FanPreferredCouple: There's a good number of fans who think Takeru should have ended up with [[spoiler:Akari]] instead of [[spoiler:Chloe]] as happens in the post-series novel. Even Takeru's actor thought that was what was going to happen.
