YMMV / Kaleidoscope (2023)

  • Awesome Music: The show features an original soundtrack composed by Dominic Lewis (Bullet Train, Peter Rabbit, The Man in the High Castle) which compliment the action and tension with its own unique flavor, similar to Utopia years prior. "Devils Plans" co-performed by Charles Jones is a particular banger.
  • Dancing Bear: Some people only know this show due to the unique randomisation of the episodes, making each Netflix account have a relatively unique viewing experience, and it was not uncommon for people who saw the series to compare which episodes they watched in which order either to determine the "true" viewing experience.
  • Jerkass Woobie: While Bob is on the hunt for Stan in "Pink", he's constantly writing and re-writing a heartfelt letter he intends to show Judy, promising to be a better man and to evolve from his mistakes. However, he gets gunned down before he can truly tell her how he feels.
  • The Woobie:
    • Most of the heist crew are career criminals who've dipped several fingers into the world of crime for years, but not RJ. RJ is a largely innocent man who's an excellent driver, making him a good candidate for the heist crew's getaway driver. He's often teased, and is the Butt-Monkey to Bob. After being assaulted by Bob in "White" this leads to his Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal. After shooting Bob non-fatally, he is killed by Judy.
    • Stan also becomes this. Although beleaguered by his wife and mom in an unglamorous butcher shop, it appears he is happy and has gone clean before the heist began. By the end of the series (chronologically), his wife, mother and father figure have all been murdered, he and Judy are constantly paranoid of being made and barely scraping by, and their only hope is that Ray will deliver fake passports and ID so the two can leave the country together. The last we see him, he's eating tacos while Judy contemplates taking what money is left and abandoning him.
