- Base-Breaking Character: Some fans felt that Josie's demands of monogamy of her (married) lover Jackie were rather hypocritical. And while she earned some credit from fans due to her actions in the sixth episode, others thought that it was these same reckless actions that ensured the deaths of both herself and Bobby.
- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The opening scene of the sixth episode with Alice, Maria, and Phoenix dancing to some very...odd music.
- Broken Base: The fact that basically all the black main characters get killed off was criticized by a few viewers.
- Ensemble Dark Horse: Of the supporting cast, Maria, Phoenix, Alice, and Bennie seem to be particularly popular with the show's fans.
- Love to Hate: Charles Junior.
- Nightmare Fuel: Josie desperately fleeing from Taggart and Hopper only to run into Charles Junior holding a chainsaw, before the screen cuts to black.
- Spiritual Adaptation: DC Comics fans have taken to seeing the show as a Comic Book/Catwoman series, helped by the fact that Carla Gugino is a very popular fancast for the role and Zack Snyder even said she was his choice to play the role opposite Ben Affleck's Batman eventually.
- Squick: Neal alludes more than once to having had Brother–Sister Incest with Phoenix. It seems that this might not have been consensual, as Phoenix thinks he's a disgusting creep.
