  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Xaxi is immensely popular and it's not hard to see why. Her sudden death at the hands of the Big Bad is one of the more disliked aspects of the book and has received a good bit of criticism from fans.
  • No Such Thing as Bad Publicity: The controversies surrounding this book (see below) grabbed a lot of attention on Twitter.
  • Overshadowed by Controversy:
    • Richard Meyer's criminal history of assault and stalking was brought up, in the midst of his online attacks on women, LGBTQ people, and people of color.
    • The comic has been caught in the middle of several debates due to its writer's harassment towards comic professionals and fans on Twitter and Youtube, and Antarctic Press cancelling their print of the book, something Richard Meyer blamed on Mark Waid. Meyer attempted to sue Waid, leading to a lawsuit that was dismissed with prejudice.
    • Comicsgate, the online movement that Meyer co-founded with Ethan Van Sciver, quickly found itself embroiled in multiple pedophilia scandals, leading many to categorize it as a pedophile movement.
    • Many of Meyer's backers were furious at the product put out. Those who spent upwards of hundreds of dollars were dismayed to find the comic printed on low quality paper and their products damaged, due to Meyer opting for the cheapest shipping and packaging options.
  • Streisand Effect: Discussion surrounding the comic spiked after some retail stores declined to stock the book. Twitter attention did not translate to sales, however, as demand was so low that many stores didn't even bother to stock copies.
