YMMV / Jane Eyre (2006)

Go To

  • Broken Base:
    • This version as a whole is polarizing for some reasons. While many critics and viewers praise it, mostly for having fantastic chemistry between the main character's actors, some novel purists, particularly the fans from 1983 version dislike it for modernizing a lot of dialogues and adding Fanservice scenes to attract new audiences.
    • The "after the wedding" scene caused mixed reactions among many fans. In one camp, some fans have complained that it's too sensual, felt out-of-character for Jane to be tempted by Mr. Rochester easily and it was created for the sake of Fanservice. On the other, some fans find it acceptable and it was entirely justified for Jane that she's a passionate woman. It helps that it was based on a certain passage of chapter 32 in the novelnote
  • Fan Nickname: This version is sometimes referred by many fans as a "fan fiction" adaptation of the book, due to Fanservice elements and other things that a fan wanted to see in a story.
  • Narm Charm: The ending may look ridiculous for seeing Jane and her new family sitting and standing to have a family portrait for hours. At the same time, it also looks rather sweet.
  • Tough Act to Follow: The only reason why there's no new miniseries version of Jane Eyre from BBC as of this present is because the 2006 version received well by many critics and fans.
