• Ensemble Dark Horse: Constantin, the dark-haired CIA agent who works for Harper. He is only a minor character, but he's such a cool-under-fire badass that a lot of people like him.
• Fanon: Several Tom Clancy fans have speculated that the FBI agent who oversees the raid on Aleksandr's house in Michigan is Dan Murray (Ryan's FBI friend from the novels).
• Harsher in Hindsight: Russia's main aim in the film is to economically ruin the United States. In a twist of irony, in response to Russia's role in the Ukrainian civil war in 2014, the United States and its allies have placed severe economic sanctions on Russia, putting its economy in its worst position since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
• Retroactive Recognition: Embee is played by the same actor who plays Samson in The Bible miniseries.
