YMMV / J Dilla

Go To

  • Archive Panic: He has dozens, if not hundreds, of production credits to his name, not to mention all of the beat tapes he released and the completely unreleased tracks his estate is still releasing. Have fun.
  • Friendly Fandoms: With Nujabes's fanbase, helps the two are surprisingly similar despite their different hip-hop style.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: His musical similarities with Nujabes garnered him a sizable Japanese fanbase, to the point where he released an Japan-only EP in 2006 (completed before his death, but released afterwards) called Jay Love Japan.
  • Heartwarming Moments: Donuts and The Shining, which are considered by everyone as Dilla saying goodbye to his loved ones, colleagues, and his fans.
    • Donuts' final song "Welcome to the Show" can be considered as Dilla passing over into the "show", with it being heaven.
    • The Shining's final song "Won't do". After so many collaborations and instrumentals, "Won't do" is all about Dilla : Dilla writing, Dilla rapping, Dilla singing, Dilla producing. Solo. No featuring. It's an awesome, and an heartwarming way to end the album. The music video also counts, with lots of Dilla's collaborators appearing.
  • Tear Jerker: Donuts and The Shining which are considered by everyone as Dilla saying goodbye to his loved ones, colleagues, and his fans, especially the last songs of the two albums.
