YMMV / Ingagi

Go To

  • Values Dissonance: A great deal on display in regards to racism, sexism, and animal cruelty.
    • For just one example of its racism, the narrator at one point tells of "...native tribes, lowest of all on the scales of humanity", who engage in "strange traffic with the great apes, creatures scarcely less intelligent than themselves". These are direct quotes!
    • There's also quite a bit of sexism directed at the tribal women. The narrator comments on the "shapeliness" of African women, and jokingly calls two young women "African flappers". The opening text crawl refers to infertility as a "weakness" as well.
    • Finally, there's the blatant animal cruelty. In those days before the No Animals Were Harmed disclaimer, animals were frequently abused or even killed for the sake of a movie, but Ingagi is blatant in its cruelty towards animals even by those standards. Lions, rhinos, leopards, hippos, crocodiles and more are killed on screen.
