YMMV / Infinity Train: Melancholy Afterlife

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation:
    • Professor Cerise's excuse for why Chloe isn't doing research in Melancholy Afterlife: is it just to keep an eye on her? Does he see her as not ready, too delicate or he rather have two boys who love Pokémon more than someone who "is no longer as interested"? And then there's the fact that just as he and Chloe are about to reconcile, Ash and Goh intervene and he decides, rather than just keep her on hold, to hang up on her...
    • Yeardley may have autism, given that he doesn't understand the idea of paper balls being a bad way to get someone's attention and that it was Chloe who got sent to the principal and not him as it would've raised some eyebrows as why someone like him get in trouble.
    • How altruistic is Specter towards Chloe? He did give her a Trainer's kit, but didn't give her a Pokémon to defend her with and wasn't able to be there on time when she needed him the most, and he's shown to have a temper when he saw Lexi dressed up as his master Daiki. Then we throw in his shadiness when he arrived with a bouquet of roses at the Sakuragi Institute, and knowing way too much about Chloe, not to mention the fact that he is the one who convinces Chloe to stay on the Train and that her father really doesn't care about her in a Moment of Weakness from her, and through Word of God, Specter won't leave the Train until Chloe gets her static off...Then there's also the fact that by letting Chloe stay longer to stop the Apex, it'll give Lexi a chance to leave the car — as the rules state that if he tries leaving, he'll end up in his home car no matter what — so he's also giving the book a chance to explore...unless that's also part of his plan to keep Chloe.
  • Fridge Brilliance: Most of Specter's behavior towards Chloe seems a little...suspect, but if you recall in Blossoming Trail that Lexi was originally based on Malchior from the Teen Titans episode, Spellbound, then it clicks.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Lexi states that going after the Apex is crucial before they one day enter Azada to burn the books down. In Boiling Point, it's revealed that Boscha entered Azada and burned the Forbidden Knowledge section when she passed through.
