• Even Better Sequel: To Force of the Dragon, largely due to the presence of Donnie Yen. In contrast, its immediate sequels, Middle Man, Forbidden Arsenal, and Sea Wolves are approaching Sequelitis territory due to the absence of big name actors and decreased action budgets. They were barely given international releases as a result.
• Retroactive Recognition: For Donnie Yen, in one of his first major roles, before his breakthrough hit with the second Once Upon a Time in China movie.
• The Woobie: Almost every scene involving Luk introduces some new misfortune for him, his friends, or his family. (He's attacked by a gang, he's a witness to a murder, his friend is killed in an attack by assassins, he has to give up his green card, his mother is kidnapped...)
