- Older Than They Think: A few commentors online bemoaned the show for "going SJW" because it dealt with the topic of Rape as Drama, and unfavourably compared it to Jumper, which it was a loose spin-off from. Putting aside that the politics are greatly downplayed from the book it's based on, they seem to forget Jumper was a film that dealt with religious fundamentalism, abuse, and misogyny, all the same themes Impulse covers.
- Surprisingly Improved Sequel: Many critics found it to be an improvement from Jumper. Indeed, the show has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 100% in comparison to the film's 15%.
