• Adorkable: Stan is a big fanboy of music and comics, tends to sing in the shower, and has quite the quirky wardrobe to boot. He also practices asking Syd to homecoming by talking to his reflection.
• Awesome Music: The show is soundtracked by Bloodwitch — a side project of Blur's Graham Coxon, who also wrote the soundtrack for The End of the F***ing World.
• Adaptation Displacement: The show has become much more popular than the comic it's based on with some even being unaware of the comic's existence.
• Catharsis Factor: Brad getting his head blown up is this to some.
• Memetic Mutation: I Am Not Okay With I Am Not Okay With This Being Cancelled ~ Since the show's cancellation this has become popular.
• Nausea Fuel:
  • Syd blowing up her head at the end of the comic.
  • Likewise, Syd blowing up Brad's head at the end of Season 1, and his blood splatters on everyone surrounding them. You can also see his eyes fly out if you pause quickly enough.
• Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: The comic. Things are just depressing and hopeless, then it ends with Syd confirming her belief that she's a bad person that contributes nothing but pain to the world and decides to solve it by killing herself to spare everyone the burden of having to deal with her.
