Broad audience reactions tend to be rather polarized — they have a massive cult following who enjoys (ironically or not) just how batshit crazy and fun their music is, while also earning lots of detractors due to being so intentionally noisy, disruptive, and drenched in memes. By contrast, 100 gecs have consistently been critical darlings, receiving glowing reviews and accolades from many major music publications (from Rolling Stone to Pitchfork), with the consensus often revolving around the duo's mastery of mixing deconstructive and affectionate parody into forming something new and artistically fascinating, crediting them as the spearheaders of Hyperpop.
• Crosses the Line Twice: "The Most Wanted Person In The United States" is chock full of absurd line-crossing lyricism, with this line especially taking the cake:
  "I've got Anthony Kiedis, suckin' on my penis."
• Hilarious in Hindsight: "hand crushed by a mallet" has the line "I felt the compression". Both of the official remixes would eventually go on to use some form of Loudness War.
• Memetic Mutation:
  • The various Tastes Like Feet listener descriptions of "money machine", such as the one in the main page.
    "This song sounded like it was recorded on a burnt microwavable dinner"
    "This song literally feels like spitting lemon juice on a 3rd degree burn"
    "This song is like jumping into a pool of electrified water"
  • The lyrics from the opening to "money machine", especially "Hey little piss baby..." have been applied to many meme templates.
  • Watch not just any of their music videos, but any video even tangentially related to 100 gecs or any of the duo's solo works, and you're likely to encounter "I don't think we need government" at or near the top of the comments section.
• Signature Song: "money machine" has become this. Other candidates are "hand crushed by a mallet" and "stupid horse".
