YMMV / Hothead Paisan: Homicidal Lesbian Terrorist

Go To

  • Anvilicious: The comic's tendency to portray male characters as unrepentant misogynists and Hothead's violent actions towards them as being completely warranted can get tiresome very fast.
  • Catharsis Factor: The creator Diane DiMassa stated that the comic's purpose was for victimized women to be entertained by seeing Hothead enact the retribution towards their oppressors that they know they can't do in real life.
  • Designated Hero: While it's usually hard to say that the men Hothead targets didn't deserve what happened to them, Hothead occasionally edges into this. The most notable example is in an early story where Hothead enacts retribution towards women getting raped and men trying to rationalize that women like getting raped by shoving a telephone pole up a random man's ass. What makes Hothead a designated hero is that it is never okay to rape a person regardless of who they are or what they've done, plus the man had absolutely no indication of being a rapist or a rape apologist, so her actions easily come off as sexually violating an innocent person unprovoked.
  • Overshadowed by Controversy: The comic nowadays is more well-known for its heavily misandrist content and the fact that the creator Diane DiMassa is an open transphobe than the fact that it was written as a protest towards the homophobia and misogyny that was normalized by society back then.
