YMMV / Hoffa

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Was Hoffa a completely amoral man with no core principles who just used the union as a path to wealth and power, or was he sincerely devoted to the cause of labor, and saw the corruption and deals with organized crime as the necessary cost of doing business? The film seems to imply the second while leaving it open to question.
  • Narm: Ciaro, furious at Hoffa for costing him his job, stalks Hoffa in an alleyway armed with a knife and threatens to cut his throat. The scene is somewhat comical in that Danny DeVito can barely reach as high as Jack Nicholson's throat.
  • Retroactive Recognition: John C. Reilly has a minor role here, before he really hit his stride during the Turn of the Millennium. It was during the making of this movie that he ran into Jack Nicholson in a urinal and ended up seeing a U2 concert with him. He talks about it here.
