YMMV / Hanuman and the Five Riders

Go To

  • Memetic Mutation: The opening credits has gained infamy in Hong Kong after a fan added Mondegreen lyrics, which, thanks to In My Language, That Sounds Like..., resulted in a hilarious profanity-laden song, which spawned numerous parodies like this one and is more well-known than the film itself.
  • Overshadowed by Controversy: When this movie is brought up it usually comes back around to it's bizarre, bootleg history and Chaiyo's infamous Ultraman lawsuit.
  • Special Effects Failure: The costumes in this movie are horribly cheap. You can very clearly see the zipper on the back of the Hanuman and King Dark costumes, and the Riderman suit made for the newly-filmed sections has the suit actor's eyes visible when looking up.
  • What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: This movie was marketed as being family friendly, but it's really anything but. There's numerous scenes of graphic violence (the movie ends with the three henchmen being beheaded, with their heads being put on display for the audience to see), a scene showing women being tortured in Hell that shows full frontal nudity, some very disturbing artwork from the same scene and plenty of adult humor. If the film had been released in the US, it most likely would've been rated R.
